Can you connect Telegram to HubSpot?
HubSpot has no native Telegram channel, but the Conversations API allows one. What a working Telegram to HubSpot connection actually does, and what it cannot do.
Yes, but not out of the box. HubSpot doesn’t ship a native Telegram channel and there’s no toggle in settings that turns one on. What it does give you is the Conversations API, which lets an integration register Telegram as a custom channel in your conversations inbox.
So Telegram conversations can absolutely live in HubSpot next to email and chat, on the same threads, against the same contacts. You just need something to put them there.
Why teams want this
Telegram isn’t a niche channel. Across the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and most of crypto and fintech, it’s simply how customers reach a business. If that’s your market, telling people to email you instead isn’t a strategy. They’ll message you on Telegram anyway, and you’ll end up running support out of somebody’s phone.
That’s the actual problem. Not that Telegram is difficult, but that it sits outside the CRM. Nobody else can see the thread. Nothing gets logged against the deal. And when the person who owns that account goes on leave, the history goes with them.
What “connected” should actually mean
Message text dumped into a note isn’t an integration. A connection worth paying for does five things.
It routes to an inbox you pick. Each connected Telegram account points at a specific HubSpot conversations inbox, so support goes to support and sales goes to sales.
It matches the sender to a contact. This is where Telegram gets interesting. Loads of Telegram users will never hand over an email address or a phone number, so matching has to work off Telegram’s own identifiers, username and user ID, and create a contact from the channel identity when nothing matches.
It keeps both directions on one thread. Your team replies in HubSpot, the reply goes out through Telegram, and it stays on the same thread with direction, timestamps, and participants intact.
It logs to the CRM timeline. The conversation gets recorded as HubSpot communication activity on the contact, and associated with companies and deals already linked to that contact.
It carries the files. Photos and documents move both ways. Support conversations are mostly screenshots, so a text-only bridge throws away most of what’s useful.
Bot or personal account
There are two ways in, and they solve different problems.
A Telegram bot is the clean option for inbound support. You create it through BotFather, grab a token, connect it. Customers message the bot, and it can sit in group chats too. It’s unambiguous, it scales, and it doesn’t depend on anyone’s personal account staying signed in.
A personal Telegram account covers the thing a bot can’t touch: conversations already happening in someone’s DMs. Sales reps and account managers build real relationships in personal Telegram, and those threads are invisible to everyone else in the company. Signing in with a QR code or phone number pulls them into HubSpot without asking a single customer to start over somewhere new.
Teams that use both usually run a bot as the front door and personal accounts for the relationships that were already there.
What you need
- Sales Hub or Service Hub Professional or Enterprise, since custom channels aren’t available on Starter
- Account Access permission for whoever runs the connection
- A BotFather token for a bot, or phone and QR sign-in for a personal account
- A decision on which conversations inbox each account feeds
What it won’t do
Telegram is reply-based. Telegram’s own rules mean the customer has to message you first, so you can’t cold-message someone from your CRM. If a tool claims otherwise, it’s describing something Telegram doesn’t allow. When you need to reach out first, that’s what SMS is for.
Group chats behave like group chats. A busy one generates a lot of thread activity, so point the talkative ones at an inbox where that’s expected rather than your main support queue.
If Telegram is where your customers already are, the Telegram bot integration and personal Telegram integration pages go deeper on each route, and the activation guide is the step-by-step.
